Spinsters With Cats

Helloooo. Long blog silence! Been so lazy...

Tigger (April's cat) has had a near miraculous recovery! He has been fine since his blood pressure and heart rate crashed that time. He spent last weekend with me and my cats because April was out of town. All the kittens got along really well.

Hopefully, we will be having a Spinsters activity soon! April is in charge this time so we will see what she comes up with!

Update on my kitty cat sweetie Tigger...
HE IS DOING MUCH MUCH BETTER! He is more vibrant, has more pizzazz. He has an appetite. When I call him he comes. He jumps on the couch and bed more easily now. There is life in his eyes! The other night he was laying with me in bed and he had his paw spread out across my arm and I remember thinking, "Life could not be any better than at this very moment." I am sooo happy that he is better! I would like to thank everyone for their support during this time!

Update on my kitty cat sweetie Tigger...

We had a lovely meeting on Sunday on Amy and Dana's luxurious apartment in Hyde Park. Sarah consumed lots of booze and talked loud. Kelly brought her own booze and refused to with Sarah but it was okay because then Dana bought Sarah more booze. Tina has apparently severed her ties with the Spinsters because "we are too serious..." She would not have thought that if she saw me running down the street because I was scared of some itty bitty vole traps. What kind of meany traps a vole, anyway... The group did not take the loss of Tina too hard because, after all, we are used to rejection. Hehehehe.

I am sure that Tina will change her mind. Okay, maybe the first couple of meetings were a little boring, but Tina, the club just started! We have our first Spinster volunteer activity this weekend! We only have one t-shirt, but maybe Heather and I can squeeze in to one. Or, maybe Shannon will lend us hers SINCE SHE NEVER WEARS IT.

Update on Tigger... Though he still probably has heart disease, he is doing better than expected. We are hopeful that though Tigger's life will not be the longest ever, he will still have some happy healthy times ahead. April needs to take some pictures of him for the web site. In fact, we all need some recent pictures of our kitties!

Well, the by-laws passed and we are having our next meeting on Tuesday at Dana's and Amy's apartment.

April's cat, Tigger, is sick and we are all hopeful that he will be okay... He had an EKG today...

We have a new addition to the Spinsters website as you might have noticed. April is the first Spinster to actually improve the life of a cat and we have noted the occasion adding her triumph to the newly created new web page entitled "Cat Beneficiaries of Spinster Efforts." Hopefully, we will have some new cat entries soon!

Our first SWC donation is in the mail!! My friend Lee sent us three packages from Boston that will be arriving soon! He did not say what is in the packages but specified that some of it is for the "new organization!" Woo-hoo! I will keep you informed.

Your president had a rare spurt of energy this weekend and tried to make a sample t-shirt for the meeting on Sunday night. Much time and money was wasted to no avail... I will resume consultantions with Dana.

A special thanks to Heather's boyfriend Greg for the finest snacks SWC we will probably ever experience. We loved the excellent assorted fruit fondue and champagne!!

Update From Last Meeting

We will partake in our first volunteer opportunity at the Humane Society on Saturday, September 6th at 11am.

We are still in the process of finalizing our t-shirts, brainstorming on the design. There is also talk of whether to include our slogan on the t-shirts.

We will be replacing the terms "some cats" with just "cats" in our by-laws.

We will vote this week as to what slogan we want for our club.

We will all partake in writing letters to our legislators about a bill that is currently being legislated. The bill was proposed on June 18, 2003 to create pet friendly license plates and the proceeds go toward sterilization of pets and education about proper veterinary care.

We talked about how the company Iams abuses their animals and we are currently discussing ways we can become involved with this, including writing letters to Senators and talking to pet stores.

The fall formal activity will be sometime in September/October/November and will most likely be a trip to the Melting Pot restaurant in Cincinnati. Club members can bring dates or not, whichever they prefer. You can bring a stuffed animal if you do not have a date. Kelly will follow up regarding an available date / time.

The next meeting will probably be in a month down in Cincinnati. The website will be updated with date/time/place as time goes on.

Inane conversation results in first franchise (maybe...)!

Sarah's sister: I want a Spinsters with Cats (tm) T-shirt! Who is in charge of this?

Me: My friend Dana is in charge... We will be selling them to non-members, so you are in luck!

Sister: Hm... since I am even further into my 30's, have even more cats than you, and am even less likely to depart spinsterhood, I believe I deserve charter membership... hell, I should be president!!!

Me: Woah, get back you usurper! I am president and it is gonna stay that way. It is true, your claim is great... You must start your own Atlanta chapter, though...

There is a franchise fee...

Sister: How are you going to enforce that?

Here are the proposed bylaws which will be voted upon at the next meeting...
